The Kyocera Kona is a good, basic, feature phone. You can get ringtones, games and other downloads for the payLo phones from Virgin Mobile. Click MY STUFF on your phone, then click GET MORE RINGTONES.

You need an Android smartphone or Apple iPhone to download and run apps. You can do that with any Beyond Talk phone and Beyond Talk plan.

Most Android apps are at the online Google Play store. Most apps for iPhones are at the online iTunes store.

The Basic Rate plan is only available on payLo phones introduced to market BEFORE May 2013. That means your Basic Rate plan will only work with the Kyocera S2100 and S2300, Samsung Montage and Entro. The Samsung Entro does not have a camera. It won't work with the Kyocera Kona, Contact, nor Brio. If you try to switch to a phone that doesn't support your current plan then you will be prompted to change plans to accommodate the phone.

You should click 'SUPPORT' at the top of this page and verify this information with Virgin Mobile's Customer Care before you buy a new payLo phone. You can also click LIVE CHAT on the left side of this web page, when available.

Can I use an MP3 as an outgoing voicemail message?
I have a speech impediment.

I would like to be able to use a professionally recorded voicemail message in MP3 format as my outgoing voicemail message.

An alternative would be for Virgin Mobile to allow users to type their outgoing message into a text window and use speech synthesis to convert the text to an outgoing message.

That feature, if available anywhere, is not available on the payLo phones. There may be an app for an Android or Apple iPhone to send pre-recorded MP3 files as a message. Check the online Google Play store for Android apps and the Apple iTunes website for iPhone apps.

Yes, you can send text messages to wired landline phones and have it read to the recipient. This won't work if you send to another cell phone since the text will be seen as a text message.

Understand how Text to Landline works
The recipient's phone will ring and when it is answered your text message will be automatically read to them. If the recipient does not answer the phone your text message will be stored as voicemail. (Recipient must have a voicemail service on their landline.) Recipients can also reply to the text message and leave a message for you.

DISABLE TEXT MESSAGES
To disable incoming text messages, click MANAGE MY ACCOUNT at the top of this page. Go to the Phone Apps & More tab. Click Edit Message Settings. From there you can enter up to 10 phone or email addresses to block. Or you can select Disable Incoming Text Messages. However, choosing this option will block all incoming text messages sent to your phone... even international texts. This means you will not be able to receive text messages on your phone, except for Virgin Alert service messages.

DISABLE WEB
You can restrict internet access in several ways. You can buy a plan with limited or no internet access, completely disable internet access, use the Content Filter, or use parental controls in the phone.

      There are 6 plans available from Virgin Mobile. The $30/month and $20/month payLo plans come closest to your needs.

► DISABLE INTERNET ACCESS
      You can block all web access on your phone by clicking on 'SUPPORT' at the top of this page to contact Virgin Mobile's Customer Care. However,
      you cannot opt out of paying for the web access if it is part of your plan. From the Downloads-Media page under Mobile Web:       http://www.virginmobileusa.com/downloads/media

► CONTENT FILTER SETTINGS
      Click MANAGE MY ACCOUNT.
      Select the SETTINGS & PREFERENCES tab.
      Select the EDIT SERVICE SETTINGS.
      Select the SETTINGS & PREFERENCES tab. Change the setting to ON then click UPDATE.
      When enabled by the account holder, the Content Filter will restrict access to harmful, obscene or otherwise inappropriate internet content from their device.

► PARENTAL CONTROLS
      You can also block web access on some phones with Parental Controls. The payLo Kyocera Brio, Samsung Entro and Samsung Montage have built-in
