Depends which plan and phone you choose and where you are sending the picture. Your friend's phone & plan must be capable of receiving a picture message, too.

• Picture messages are part of the messages on all the Beyond Talk plans, the $40/month payLo plan, and $30/month payLo plan. You'll need money in your Virgin Mobile account in order to send/receive picture messages with either the $20/month plan or the Basic Rate plan; picture messages cost 25¢ each with either of these plans.

• The LG 101 phone does not have a camera. It is not capable of sending nor receiving pictures messages. Although the new Samsung Entro doesn't have a camera it can send and receive picture messages, depending on your plan. All the other payLo and Beyond Talk phones can send/receive picture messages, depending on your plan.

• You can only send and receive picture messages in the United States. International picture messages are not available.

How much usage do you get with 50mg?

According to Virgin Mobile, 1MB of data is equal to around 100 web pages, but sizes vary. So, 50 megabytes is about 5,000 pages.

http://virginmobileusa.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3257

Images/Pictures, audio, and video on web pages use more data than text. Using the Opera Mini Browser instead of the built-in browser you can adjust what objects can be downloaded to your phone. You can set Opera to display no images, smaller, medium, or hi quality images. Opera also displays webpage size at the bottom of the screen as the page is loaded. The web browsers on the payLo phones won't download audio and video.

No. As of 6/24/2013, if you are on the old minute plan ($20 every three months), and your phone dies, the plan dies with it. You are not allowed to switch to another phone. If you have a phone that still works on the old plan, take very good care of it.

Dan L.'s response below notwithstanding, I just tried to set up this phone on my current basic rate plan and it said that it will not work with that plan. It only offers me any pay as you go plans, so from what Dan said, that it would be available until it expired, well it must have expired. The cheapest plan available to me is the $20/month, vs. the $20 every 90 days that I am currently on.

Virgin Mobile's offer for the Basic Rate plan, also known as Pay As You Go, expired as of Jun. 24, 2013. The Basic Rate plan is no longer available to new customers nor to current customers wishing to switch plans.

Current customers with the Basic Rate plan active in an account will be grandfathered and can keep the plan until the plan is discontinued as long as they don't change plans or let their accounts expire. If a current customer with an active Basic Rate plan changes plan to a monthly plan($20, $30, or $40 per month) the Basic Rate plan will no longer be available to them.

Yes. The payLo Basic Rate plan is the only Pay As You Go plan currently available. Due to the recent plan changes, it is no longer described on the web pages but it is still available.
http://virginmobileusa.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5676

The Basic Rate plan costs $20 every 90 days; that $20 is added to your phone account. Charges for talk, messages, and web access are deducted from your account as you go.Talk for 20¢/minute, 15¢ each text msg, 25¢ each picture msg, and $1.50/mb of web access. Any amount left in your account at the end of 90 days is carried forward to the next period. The payLo Basic Rate plan can be used by any payLo phone.

When you start your new payLo phone you'll be prompted to select one of the plans. If you don't see the Basic Rate plan then click on 'Don't see the plan you are looking for? Click here.' The payLo Basic Rate plan will be at the bottom.

That depends on both phones' features. Some phones let you transfer contacts, music, photos, etc. using USB cables, microSD card, Bluetooth, etc. There is no standard method between all brands/models. You may need to use a computer.
