If your question is regarding regular cell phone calls and texts...like if you lost signal in a basement and hook up to the Mifi....No. You have to have at least a cell phone signal to call/text. If you're asking this for Android/Apple Apps from App Store/Google Play Market, then yes you can use this for VOIP/Texting apps.

Maybe, but not here. You need a Mac or Windows PC to set up your Broadband2Go account and configure an Overdrive Pro. Once you've created a Wi-Fi hotspot with your Overdrive Pro you should be able to access the web with any Wi-Fi enabled device such as your Android phone.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS - Overdrive Pro
• Mac Requirements: Mac OS X, 10.4 & Higher G4/G5
• Windows* Requirements: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
• Your Mac or Windows PC must be Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g/n enabled to connect to the Overdrive Pro OR have an available USB port.

Requirements for a USB Tethered Connection
Your device supports a direct connection through a USB cable to a Windows or Mac computer. (This is commonly referred to as a “tethered” connection.)
See page 26 in the Overdrive Pro user manual at http://www.virginmobileusa.com/resources/phones/prepaid/manual/OD-Pro-user-guide.pdf

Your Virgin Mobile account is setup using a browser window. The Overdrive Pro is also configured using a browser window. The Overdrive's device drivers will be downloaded to your Mac or Windows PC from the Overdrive. You must use a Mac or Windows PC to setup your Virgin Mobile account and configure the Overdrive.

Once you've created a Wi-Fi hotspot with your Overdrive you should be able to access the web with any Wi-Fi enabled device.

Virgin Mobile is simply re-branded Sprint data service, so, anywhere you get Sprint 3G, you will also have Virgin Mobile service.

Question
Can I keep my Mifi 2200 "plan" and use this device?
I have a mifi 2200 and would like to use this device instead of the mifi. Can I purchase this one and use the existing plan that I have with VirginMobile?

Yes in a way. I purchased the Overdrive Pro a few weeks ago and called the Virgin Mobile 1-800 number to have the customer service rep. take my MIFI 2200 off the account and replace it with the Overdrive Pro 3G/4G. I was three days away from my plan renewal anyway. I saved $15 also because my new plan costs $35 for unlimited 4G/with 2 gigs 3G data. Many of the old plan prices have been discontinued and replaced with $35 for unlimited 4G/with 2 gigs 3G...or... $55 for unlimited 4G/with 5 GB of 3G data. Every now and then usually on cloudy days, my 4G signal gets weak and the device switches to 3G. That's not a problem since I don't stream video in 3G.

See page 44 in the Overdrive Pro user manual at http://www.virginmobileusa.com/resources/phones/prepaid/manual/OD-Pro-user-guide.pdf

Max Wi-Fi users — You can limit the number of Wi-Fi users (maximum of five) that can connect to the device. A smaller number improves performance and
security.

Sorry for my previous statement where I said the Older 3G devices will not be able to use the new plans seems to have been wrong. According to an online chat with a virgin mobile rep it was stated that my Older Mifi will still be able to receive the new plans even tho it is still just 3G. I hope this information helps a little in the correction of that. With the Unlimited you will see speed drops at 265 kb/s or lower though after you hit the cap for 2GB or 5GB on those two new plans.

As far as the customer service rep told me that yes, you can still have unlimited but only 4G/3G speeds up to the 2GB or 5GB cap they set for the 2 plans and if you have an old 3G device you are not able to use their new plans with them. I hope this helps. We don't have 4G in our area but we can still use the 4G device to get these new plans. Another side tip is we are on the $50 unlimited plan here with 3G up to 2.5GB and then it is throttled back after that and I asked how long after do I have to renew my $50 plan before I lose it for good, they told me 3 Months so if you don't renew as soon as your plan expires you will not have to worry for 3 Months then. That was very helpful to know. I didn't want my plan to go away if I didn't renew before my plan expired. ;)

Question
4G download cap
Is the 4G download cap at 10GB or 5GB? The 10GB cap shows under the plan pricing. The 5GB cap shows when I mouse over the "more".

Virgin Mobile occasionally changes their Broadband2Go devices and plans. This is a very old question that was relevant to previous plans.

The current Broadband2Go plans are capped at 6GB and 1.5GB for 3G and 4G data.

answer 2
The 4G cap is 10GB, at which point they throttle you down to a trickle of bandwidth until you buy a new month. There's also a 5GB 3G cap, because the devices can run on 3G when 4G isn't available.
