No, you won't. You're grandfathered plan is attached to the phone number used, not the device.

As of May 27, 2012, changing to a Beyond Talk smartphone released after May 1, 2012 will no longer "grandfather" you in on the $25 plan. If you change phones, you will be subject to the current rates.

Unfortunately, yes, you will have to switch to one of the new prices if you buy any phone released after May 1, 2012. It's in their FAQs.

I'm considering upgrading to the phone too, but the extra cost puts me off.

answer 9
Okay, how it was explained to me was that, no, you wouldn't lose your plan because you're not changing the plan itself. You're only getting a new phone with the same service. Now if you go to move to the unlimited everything plan, then you would not be able to pay $25 if you moved back, you would have to pay the $10 increase to $35 for it.

Yes it means texting. You get unlimited data meaning you can picture message, text, video message and surf the web. You don't get unlimited anytime talk it's 300 minutes for the 35 dollar plan and than 45 is 1200 anytime talk minutes than there's 55 and that's unlimited everything. Hope this was useful for you.

Yes when phone companies say "messaging" they are most likely referring to texting. Now whether or not that includes picture messaging or video messages is something that you have to read the fine print to find out.

You can use the keyboard to type when you open it, the on-screen keyboard will disappear. Close the keyboard and the on-screen one will return. Flipping to the portrait view will make the on-screen keyboard switch to portrait as well.

answer 3
Yes, you definitely can keep the phone closed and just use the on-screen keyboard. It works in both portrait mode (vertically) and landscape mode (horizontally). You also have a selection of 2 different on-screen keyboards, one where you just push each individual letter to spell the words (you can enable a predictive text feature also). The other type of on-screen keyboard is called "swype" (its a much faster way of typing). The on-screen keyboard looks the same, but you just slide your finger around from one letter to the next in the word you want to type, without lifting your finger up. Can be much quicker than "pecking" at the keyboard.

answer 5
The touchscreen keyboard is the same (vertical and horizontal) just as any other android phones. The physical keyboard just gives you the option of using it not a requirement. So, yes, you can text when it's closed.

Question
Low internal storage?
I have bad luck with phones having internal memory so tiny that they aren't useful for anything other than the occasional text and call. I want to know if anyone gets low internal storage warnings and what the available internal storage is out of the box.

It has 1gb of internal storage. (0.96 for precise) However, it ships with a 2gb SD card already installed. You can replace it to any size you like, all the way up to 32gb. I've never gotten an internal storage error because I don't put much stuff into my phone.

I had the same"low internal memory" error message issue with the 2 previous virgin mobile phones I had. The first one was an LG Optimus V, it held a handful but nothing great. Got the low internal memory message quite often, but kept the phone for like a year and a half and just never downloaded anything big and had to delete an app if i wanted to install another. After the first year of having the Optimus V, I thought I would upgrade and I switched to the HTC Wildfire S. Big mistake- that was WAY worse than the Optimus V! Because the phone was so crammed with un-necessary pre-loaded software that couldn't be removed, I could only install like 20 MB worth of apps on it total.. I sold that phone as quickly as possible and switched back to the Optimus V and used that up until a few weeks ago when I got the Kyocera Rise. It's amazing what a difference there is, it has like 7 times the amount of free space that the Optimus V had. It has like .9_ GB of FREE internal space (that's like 900 MB +). The phone has a lot of great features on it since it's running on android 4.0, it has a "data connections optimizer". If there's a wi-fi signal around that is free or remembered, it uses a bunch of variables to automatically determine which connection to use for data, the phone will calculate if the wi-fi signal is faster than your regular 3g data connection, it will also look at the data you have left for the month before you reach the max or cap (which would greatly reduce your data speeds if exceeded), and it will also look at your remaining battery life (wi-fi connections use less battery power than 3g connections). This is DEFINITELY the best phone for your money with virgin mobile, I would highly recommend it!

It was a pleasant surprise to find out that the Rise has almost 1GB of internal storage. I installed every app I had on my old phone plus at least 10 more, and still have 80% of the internal storage free after moving them to the SD card. You won't run out of internal storage anytime soon, it's a huge difference from my old phone.

The Kyocera Rise has a slide out QWERTY keyboard. It also has a touchscreen keyboard where you can enter text using Swype. Voice input mode: Touch to enter text using your voice.

You can use your device’s built-in automatic speech recognition (ASR) software (Voice Dialer) to dial a phone number in your People or to launch device functions. All you have to do is talk into the device, and ASR will recognize your voice and complete tasks by itself.

Voice Search allows you to find information on the web as well as items and information on your device by speaking your search terms.

I say the Rise is better because it has the most advanced Android platform, the 1GB processor, the touchscreen, the QWERTY keyboard, and the package comes with a 2GB card included so you can download apps and music and other stuff! So the Rise is better.
