is this phone better than the rumor touch?

That is a subjective question based on what you prefer from your device. The Intercept is a smartphone running Android 2.1 which has access to the Android App Market along with other Virgin Mobile downloads that will be available soon. The Rumor Touch is not a smartphone and has access to Virgin Mobile downloads, but not the Android App Market.

So objectively the Intercept while sharing a lot of the same core exterior features (3" touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY, Bluetooth, etc) is a more advanced phone than the Rumor Touch. However, it all depends on how you like to use your device.

I've asked this of Customer Support. Their answer was no. If the serial ID of the phone did not originate from the Virgin Mobile brand, it cannot be taken over to Virgin Mobile.

To purchase the phone you must pay for the device upfront, but the monthly plans are on a recurring basis. The phone is currently available at Target, VirginMobileusa.com, and some local wireless retailers. RadioShack will be receiving the device before the end of October.

Radioshack doesn't have the phone yet -- check Target or online.

To pay for service, you either buy top-up cards wherever they're sold, or use a credit/debit card online. Its your call.

Question
Android Apps on the Intercept
Now since this phone is running the android OS will it be able to run ALL android apps or are there going to be some restrictions. I am very interested in getting the skype android app to run on this phone (actually will be the deciding factor in if I am going to buy this product or not).

answer 2
About 1 week into using the phone, and I have found none of the usual restrictions on this phone

I.E. mp3 can be used for ringtones, custom txt tones are possible all apps so far have ran fully with no qwirks

I have had to power cycle it once, just today for glitching out on me, but all phones do that from time to time
