It works with SOME windows 7 systems. My Dell inspiron 1750 does not recognize the modem, or install drivers for it. It just 'beeps' when I plug in the USB modem, and I have disabled anti-virus. Anyone know where to download win7 drivers online? Thanks!

The biggest part of answering that question is figuring out if there are Windows 7 Compatible drivers for the card you will be using for Virgin Mobile Broadband. There are a lot of devices that do not currently have Windows 7 drivers available and though yes, they will have drivers available in the future, it does not necessarily mean they are available at the current point in time.

Yes, you can use it. You can use the device to any computer as long as it has a usb pot. if you have more than one wi-fi devices, you better purchase a mi-fi or an overdrive 3G/4G mobile hotspot. It can support up to 5 wi-fi enabled devices. You can use mobile phone, game console, laptop, desktop, music player. It means also that you can use these 5 devices simultaneously. You can carry this hotspot anywhere. Its very sleek and handy. You can even put it in your pocket. Anywhere you are in your house, you can always access internet as long as you have this hotspot.

answer 2
The blanket statements that the iPad does not have a USB port and therefore this will not work is not completely true. The camera adaptor kit for the iPad gives you a USB port on an iPad. USB microphones, keyboards, and even webcams are known to work with it. Whether or not this particular USB device will work is another question.

The Cradlepoint PHS300 works great with this, and lets you connect multiple devices. With the modem plugged into the Cradlepoint, I have 24/7 Wi-Fi for my laptop, iPod Touch and whatever else I need to connect.

answer 6
No, since there is no USB. For the same price as this device you can upgrade to a 3G equipped IPad and not have to worry about a dongle device. Apple wants their devices to be closed and controllled systems. There are pluses and minuses to that, but that is the way it is.

Question
Can Broadband2Go be used with a MagicJack for an internet phone connection?

answer 1
Yes, you can, but due to the signal transferring up in space, then back down again, then though the internet backbone, your ping or latency will be alot greater. normally on voip there is about a second delay from the person on the other end finishing their words, to the point they start hearing your response on a cable / dsl line. over a satellite you can double or triple the delay. its physics. I personally would not recommend it for business use. would ok for an emergency use if your cell died

I ran Vonage on a Sprint pc card, it worked but, the sound quality is not very good. Speed does not matter, what you need is a connection with very little lag, since Sprint is wireless it tends to lag a bit.

- Texas, USA"

If we assume its one minute per megabyte, it would end up costing you
-10cents/min(or mb) on a $10,
-8c/m on a $20,
-6.7c/m on a $40, and
-6c/m on a $60 plan.

That is very good compared to a $40 vzw minimum plan that would give you 16c/m or $40 att min plan that would be 20c/m. I'd say those are good rates for virgin either way your using it cuz its as much as a phone card and if you use it that way, and you can pay to use it when YOU decide you need it.

My son has a magicjack and I have Sprint mobile internet service simular to Virgin Mobile. He brought his magicjack down to my place and we tried to connect, but each time we tried the internet would drop off. I don't have the dark green service but the middle green service at my palce. This is just a FYI and suggest if you have a magicjack to try it and see what happens.

I don't see why not. I believe it should work, unless Vmobile/Sprint blocks the port MagicJack uses.

However, I haven't tried it myself.

You would probably want to measure your network usage while still on a WiFi or wired network first... Voice traffic could potentially consume your available megabytes faster than you may expect.

I ran a test with Gizmo (a SIP provider). I made a quick call that lasted a little under a minute, and it consumed about 1 MB... I'm not sure how the usage on the MagicJack would compare...

answer 8
That is the coolest question because as crazy as that might sound initially, (because it's such an involved, and indirect way of placing a simple phone call) I believe it could be done.

If the MagicJack software can run on your computer and it sees an internet connection (via the Broadband2Go) it should pass the services along without complaint and only be limited by the upload and download speeds needed to sustain a coherent voice call.

However, given the possible cost involved in exchanging the load of wireless data information to support the duration of your MagicJack conversation, it might be cheaper to use your (presumed to be) Virgin phone for a direct call by the minute as you typically would.

I like how you think - very "Rube Goldberg" indeed!

answer 3
Yes. The Broadband2Go device, like other USB mobile broadband devices, can be used with a computer in exactly the same way as it is used with a laptop.

When using a mobile broadband modem with a desktop computer, you may have a harder time obtaining a strong wireless signal, depending on the location of the USB modem and it's surroundings. If your desktop computer has front USB ports, use those. If it does not, you may want to consider purchasing a USB hub or extension.

Why? The back of your computer is going to be closest to electrical cords, and other sources of interference to radio communications. Using an extension allows you to place the modem in a location with less interference, allowing for optimal signal reception.

Yes, just needs a computer and a USB port.

Depending on your desktop's location and your signal strength, you might want to use a USB extension cord to get the modem away from the metal case.
