The Broadband2Go device does not work correctly on Vista. The virtual CD-ROM device tells Vista that it has been ejected, so unless you happen to catch the device just before this happens, you will not get the Windows drivers.

The Novatel receiver requires a compatible Operating System (currently Windows XP or Vista) in order to work. It should work fine on any desk top or notebook PC with either of these operating systems

Nope. Windows XP or Vista only. I have heard rumors that there might be Linux drivers from Novatel, but you'd need to be a pretty serious geek to get those running.

The other two answers are only partially correct, and both are also partially wrong. The service works with Windows AND Mac OS X (and is supported by Virgin Mobile on these two platoforms). It will probably work with Linux IF you can find the proper device driver for the USB modem. However, Virgin Mobile does not support the service on Linux, meaning that if you can't get it to work or if you have problems, you are on your own. They won't terminate the service for using it on an unsupported platform, they just won't help you.

answer 3
Right now, Linux is unsupported. There may be a device driver you can use out there maintained by the Linux community, however using the service in an unsupported operating system gives Virgin Mobile the right to terminate service.

Consider thee warned.

if you go over the bandwidth limit for your plan you have to top up(refill) your account with another card. If you reach your limit the device won't connect to the internet until you top up.

Since it's pre-paid, you can't go over in data with BB2G. When you run out of MB or days, you simply need to buy another session.
