Questions & Answers for Ovation MC760 USB Device

Question
I can't install this on my Toshiba netbook with Windows XP. Does anyone know why?
When I plug it into my USB port, Window's installation program pops up not Broadband2Go's installation program. Also, Broadband2Go's installation software doesn't show up when I browse for it. This same Broadband2Go has worked on 2 other computers already without problems.

I had to to reset the device after a crash and had some problems also – un- install everything, including the old device settings – you will have to use device manager- see following

( your device manager first) ----( right click “my computer” under hardware tab - start device manager ) If you see a yellow question mark or red X on a network device , un-install that device ( may be more than one, remove all problem or unknown devices the system cannot recognize) ... usually the system will hunt for a new device ( you can also right click device manager to force search), you'll hear the familiar sound of a USB connection detection ..... you may have to reset your account for the device so have your numbers handy.

Make sure that the Auto-Install feature is checked off under the Settings line. This will allow the Ovation device to install the proper drivers into your computer. To do this go to the Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go display & click on the drop down arrow located in the upper left of the display. Select the Settings line & then check the Auto-Install feature. You will need to restart the program or reboot your computer to make sure the drivers are loaded.

I was able to fix this by deleting entries with questionmarks in the "other devices" under the device manager list of entries. It took me hours of time to fix this problem. Ouch! After the problem is fixed, you will see a new entry under "modems". Good luck

It depends on your location.

Am I charged for taxes and other surcharges?
All of the Broadband2Go plans are inclusive of taxes and surcharges. However, we collect sales taxes on all Top-Up transactions for all services that we process directly and, in certain states, we collect regulatory fees. Retailers are responsible for collecting sales taxes and, in some states, regulatory fees for Top-Up transactions that they process.

Question
How many computers - via wireless - can connect to the MC760?
I would like to connect a desktop via a Motorola wireless USB adapter (WU830G).

Desktop does not have USB 2.0 ... only USB 1.0 so the mc760 is plugged into a laptop ...

I understood the MC760 was able to "host" up to 5 users.

Virgin Mobile occasionally changes their phones, devices, plans, and prices. When Virgin Mobile changed prices on plans in the past they "grandfathered" existing customers on those plans and let them keep their existing plans as long as they didn't change plans, change phones, the plan was discontinued, or let their accounts expire. Only new customers paid the new price.

The ipod touch does not have a USB port on the device. The MC760 can not be plugged in to the ipod touch, so it will not be able to provide internet access for ipod touch devices.
