Can I switch from Beyond Talk to PayLo?
I have a Samsung INtercept and use Beyond Talk at $35/mo. After a year I find I do not need all the Beyond Talk features. PayLo would fit my uses just fine: I call and do limited texting.
Can I switch to PayLo in my next top-up? IF so, how do I go about making this change?

Yes. You may end up buying a new phone and losing any money in your account. According to the Terms and Conditions:

• Virgin Mobile and payLo accounts are maintained separately. If you switch between a Virgin Mobile service plan and a payLo service plan, your Virgin Mobile or payLo account (as applicable) may be closed and you may be given a new Virgin Mobile or payLo account (as applicable).

• You may switch current service plans, including between Virgin Mobile and payLo. When you switch service plans, you will not receive a refund of any portion of any previously paid service charges and you will lose all of your remaining unused minutes, messages, and data allotment.

• Some service plans are available only on certain phones.

    - Only the Beyond Talk plans will work on the Samsung Intercept. You will need to buy one of the payLo phones before changing plans.

• Log into your account. [MANAGE MY ACCOUNT at the top of this page.] On the Account Overview tab click on 'Change My Plan'. From there you can see the alternate plans that are available for your phone model.

Checking on full cost of plans...
I’m looking at the $40/month that includes Unlimited Talk and Unlimited Text, plus 50MB of data.

My questions is: Does it actually cost $40 exactly, or are there taxes, fees, hidden costs, that make it add up to $50-60.00?

You're charged sales tax on Top-Ups, purchases of equipment and accessories, and shipping & handling charges where required by law. The amount of tax is based on the billing address of the debit/credit card or PayPal account you use.

No, the Assurance Wireless plans are not available on the Samsung Montage and Samsung Entro. The other payLo phones are compatible with the Assurance Wireless plans. The current Beyond Talk phones will not work with your plan.

Sorry, no. Virgin Mobile USA phones work strictly within the USA.

Virgin Mobile USA phones use the Sprint Nationwide Network which extends ONLY throughout the 48 U.S contiguous states, Hawaii, Washington DC, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands. The VMUSA phones do not roam across other phone networks either. For these reasons the Virgin Mobile USA phones work strictly within the USA and when located outside the USA, will not send/receive calls or messages nor provide web access. There are no options available to use Virgin Mobile USA phones outside the USA.

Can you set up non-roaming for calls?
I have an airave for my other phone (sprint service) and my current virgin mobile phone always connects to Sprint when I try to make calls (so it registers as roaming and I'm unable to make any calls unless I turn my signal booster off for sprint). Very annoying! Does this phone have a roam/non-roaming feature so that I can program it to not roam so I can use it on the virgin mobile service without having to unplug the signal booster for sprint? Thanks

There is no "roam/non-roaming feature" on Virgin Mobile USA phones since Virgin Mobile has locked all their phones to the Sprint network and cannot roam.

Certain Virgin Mobile phones have built-in parental controls. Parental controls are not part of any plan. See the Owner's Manuals at: http://www.virginmobileusa.com/phone-manuals-guides

payLo phones with built-in parental controls:              Kyocera Brio, Samsung Entro, and Samsung M575(discontinued)

The discontinued phones may still be available at local stores and online elsewhere. Click 'Find Store' at the top of this page for local stores.

Text messaging can be blocked or disabled for any VM phone within your Virgin Mobile account for the phone. You can also block all web access on any VM phone by clicking SUPPORT at the top of this page to contact Virgin Mobile. However, some plans include web access (i.e. Beyond Talk plans and the payLo Talk & Text plan) and you cannot optout of paying for the web access on these plans.

Note: There are parental controls available in the Android and Apple app stores for the Beyond Talk smartphones. Requires a Beyond Talk plan.
