Questions & Answers for Broadband2Go

Question
How much is it to add HotSpot to my account?
I am finding the need to periodically have HotSpot enabled on my phone. But when I try to enable it, a message states that I do not have that option as part of my plan.

How much is it to add to my current plan?

Thank you,
Todd

It is $5.00 every time you use it, or if you purchase the monthly plan, it is $15.00 a month plus tax

It is $5.00 plus tax for every time you use it. And if you have you credit/debit card attached to your account to pay for your monthly plan, it will say your Balance is 0.00 in your account, but if you click on the top up option on your online account, you can add as much money you need to pay for what ever add-on's you want to use, then you should be able to pay for the Mobile Hotspot on your phone.

Hope this helped Todd Mungovan.

Yes, yes, and yes. Data access stops at the end of your day or when you've depleted the amount of data in your plan.

You may need a Mac or Windows PC to set up your Broadband2Go account and configure your MiFi 2200. Once you've created a Wi-Fi hotspot with your MiFi 2200 you should be able to access the web with any Wi-Fi enabled device. The Sprint Network for the MiFi only exists within the USA so you will need to wait until you are in the USA before trying to start your account.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS - MiFi 2200

• Mac Requirements: Mac OS X, 10.3 & higher
• Windows* Requirements: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8; PDF Reader
• Your Mac or Windows PC must be Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g enabled to connect to the MiFi 2200.

Manage Wireless Network Activity – MiFi Device Settings
MiFi Device Settings: Allows you to manage, monitor, and customize your Wi-Fi Mobile Broadband connection through an easy-to-use interface when the device is in Wi-Fi mode (that is, without the use of the USB cable). page 5

See the MiFi 2200 user manual at http://www.virginmobileusa.com/resources/mifi_usermanual.pdf
Begin with Using Your MiFi 2200 Device . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10

Your Virgin Mobile account is setup using a browser window. The MiFi 2200 is also configured using a browser window. The MiFi 2200's device drivers will be downloaded to your Mac or Windows PC from the MiFi 2200. You must use a Mac or Windows PC to setup your Virgin Mobile account and configure the MiFi 2200.

Once you've created a Wi-Fi hotspot with your MiFi 2200 you should be able to access the web with any Wi-Fi enabled device.

DATA SPEEDS
3G, 4G WiMAX, and 4G LTE indicate which data network is used for web access. Each network has different maximum speed capabilities. Both 4G networks are much faster than 3G but neither 4G network is as large as 3G at this time.

Virgin Mobile answered your question in the FAQs:

• Data speeds for 3G devices on the 3G Nationwide Sprint Network range from 600 kbps – 1.4 mbps*.

• Data speeds for 4G devices operating on the Sprint 4G (WiMAX) Network, typical speeds range from 3 – 6 mbps*. The Sprint 4G (WiMAX) Network reaches over 70 markets in the US.

• When in a 4G LTE coverage area, customers may realize average download speeds of 6-8 Mbps, upload speeds of 2-3 Mbps and peak speeds of 25 Mbps*.

*Actual speeds may vary based upon plan or other factors.

COVERAGE
• Check your COVERAGE on the top line of this webpage.

Be sure to select your coverage interest such as 4G LTE, 4G WiMAX, 3G Data Coverage, or Voice Coverage in the boxes above the map.

'Coverage is not available everywhere and varies based on a number of factors. Our coverage maps provide high level estimates of our coverage areas when using your device outdoors under optimal conditions. Coverage isn't available everywhere. Estimating wireless coverage and signal strength is not an exact science. There are gaps in coverage within our estimated coverage areas that, along with other factors both within and beyond our control (network problems, software, signal strength, your wireless device, structures, buildings, weather, geography, topography, etc.), will result in dropped and blocked connections, slower data speeds, or otherwise impact the quality of services...'
