Question
Can I change phone numbers?
If I sign buy a VM phone, and get assigned a new number, can I change that number later on down the road? I am under contract with Sprint, and have 5 more months of a simple talk and text plan to use up. I will keep that going just for talking. But when the contract runs out, I want to switch over my number to Virgin.

Virgin Mobile answered your question in the FAQs:

How Virgin Mobile determines a new phone number

Our system finds the area code for your number from your ZIP code and pulls a number from a pool of phone numbers. Unfortunately, there is no way to choose the phone number for you.

Question
Phone to computer by tethering.
Seems to be conflicting answers to this question. Would be nice if the company providing the service would give the correct answers. There is one answer that says no. Then a yes answer .Ya, you can do it,, for us that know how, but is it really correct to do by the company. Do they really allow this?
I would really like the the right answer.

Virgin Mobile occasionally changes their phones, devices and plans. Look for "Daily Mobile Hotspot" on the FEATURES & SPECS tab.

BEYOND TALK -TETHERING PHONES
Tethering, an internet connection to computers via USB cable from your phone, is not available on Virgin Mobile phones.

HOTSPOT
A hotspot provides internet access to Wi-Fi enabled (IEEE 802.11) devices like phones, laptops, iPads, PC/Macs, tablets, games, and more. Hotspots are widely available at cafes, libraries, bookstores, public transport, airports, etc.

► You need the following to create a Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11):

     1. One of the Beyond Talk plans ($35, $45, or $55 per month)
     2. The $15 per month OR $5 per day Hotspot option in your Virgin Mobile account
     3. One of these Beyond Talk phones:
(uses 3G network only) Apple iPhone 4s, Kyocera Event
(uses 4G LTE and 3G networks) HTC Desire, Kyocera Hydro Vibe, LG Optimus F3, LG Volt, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy SIII,
                                                                 Samsung Galaxy Victory

Log into your account. [MANAGE MY ACCOUNT at the top of this page.] On the Account Overview tab click on 'Change My Plan'. From there you can
see the plans and options that are available for your phone.

Mandatory. All providers are like that because Blackberries use an additional server/network that isn't owned by any of the cell providers out there.
