NO they do not work with all phones. My son and daughter each had older phones. When we purchased new phones, we discovered that not all plans work with all phones. Check with Virgin Mobile before purchasing, if there are certain phone plans you want. We are happy with the Virgin Mobile phones and plans overall, but this is something that we are not happy with. We are finding out that for my kids, we will probably have to pay more for service than we would like, just because of the phone he chose.

I switched my old UT Starcom Snapper (basic flip phone) from pay-as-you-go to the PayLO plan. The "change plans" option is under "I want to..." on the right side of your account home. I had to top-up my account first, but did not buy a minute pack as I used to, instead the balance went to the new plan. Very easy.

answer 1
The Beyond Talk and payLo plans only cover domestic calls and domestic messages.

There are additional charges to MAKE international calls using any Beyond Talk or payLo plan. So, you will need $$ in your Virgin Mobile account before making any international calls. Click 'Top-Up' at the top of this page to use a credit/debit card, PayPal, or Virgin Mobile Top-Up card to put money into your Virgin Mobile account before sending an international call.

International calls are charged at the international per-minute rate for the country you're calling PLUS your standard airtime rate. Scroll down the Beyond Talk or payLo plan page to 'International Rates' then select the country's region in the 'Select A Region' menu for the international per-minute rate.
http://www.virginmobileusa.com/cell-phone-plans/paylo-plans/overview/

For all Beyond Talk and payLo plans, inbound and outbound international text messages cost 15¢ each. International picture messages are not available.

it's perfect! select the auto pay & every 2 months your card will be billed for your plan, so you never run out of minutes for an emergency. the best part is your minutes roll over if you don't use them, so you don't lose them. i've been using this system for almost 5 years & it's perfect for people that only want a cell phone for emergency situations (i. e. late for appointment, calling AAA for a car emergency).

answer 2
Yes, it's perfect. I've been on the basic plan for a few years, and it's worked out great. I don't have to worry about topping up, because I'm also on the auto top-up plan. VM has my CC number, and every 90 days they automatically top up my balance. Even though I'm paying a higher per minute charge, it doesn't matter since I don't talk that much anyway.

For the current payLo monthly plans ($30/month and $20/month), your minutes expire at the end of every month. Your minutes do not roll over or roll forward.

'Unused services included in your plan expire at the end of each monthly period and may not be used in subsequent months', for all Beyond Talk and monthly payLo plans. Unused services include talk minutes, messaging (text messages, email, IM, and picture messages), and web access.

http://www.virginmobileusa.com/legal/terms-of-service-paylo#monthly_plan

Some older plans that are no longer available to new customers had roll over minutes.

I called to ask and was told.."They will expire after 30 days on the Pay Lo Plan, they DO NOT roll over from month to month like they did on the Pay As You Go Plan." Also if you leave the Pay As You Go Plan you might not be able to get back on it becase they are trying to phase it out, but you can switch back and forth from the 3 different plans within the Pay Lo Plan from month to month. I don't like that the minutes expire though...some months I use my phone alot and some months I don't.

When you have an Assurance Wireless account, you can add money if you decide to choose the $5, $20 or $30 plan and to pay for any services, like additional minutes, additional texting or international calls.

     • To see or add to the balance in your Assurance Wireless account on your phone select MY ACCOUNT on the menu or click TOP-UP at the top
of this page. Virgin Mobile Top-Up cards are one way to add money your Assurance Wireless account. Top-Up cards are available at retail stores
          and elsewhere online.

► You can find other answers on the Assurance Wireless website which can be found on this FAQ:
http://virginmobileusa.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3340. Then click on the FAQ tab on their website.

After March 31st, 2014, you will no longer have the ability to access any of your email accounts through the Email (or Email+IM) application that was made available to many feature phones in the past. The Email+IM application was not included on newer payLo phones such as the Samsung Entro, Kyocera Brio, and Kyocera Kona. Email and IM should be available on your phone using an internet browser and the data from your payLo plan.

This change only affects the following payLo feature phones. Beyond Talk Android and Apple iPhones are not affected.
• Kyocera Brio
• Kyocera S2100
• Kyocera S2300
• LG Rumor 2
• LG Rumor Touch
• LG 101
• LG LG200
• Samsung Montage
• Samsung Restore / M575

answer 2
Virgin Mobile's offer for the Basic Rate plan, also known as Pay As You Go, expired as of Jun. 24, 2013. The Basic Rate plan is no longer available to new customers nor to current customers wishing to switch plans.

Current customers with the Basic Rate plan active in an account will be grandfathered and can keep the plan until the plan is discontinued as long as they don't change plans or let their accounts expire. If a current customer with an active Basic Rate plan changes plan to a monthly plan($20, $30, or $40 per month) the Basic Rate plan will no longer be available to them.

Minutes are not counted if you have either the $55/month Beyond Talk plan or the $40/month payLo plan. Otherwise, there are no free mobile-to-mobile, Virgin-to-Virgin, weekend or night calls for any Beyond Talk nor payLo plan. All calls, incoming & outbound, will be charged against your account according to your plan. The only exceptions are 911 and Virgin Mobile Customer Care calls.

Without contracts you don't have to worry about who you're calling, their phone type, calling lists, weekends, night or day nor any other restrictions or gimmicks that other phone companies have.

Virgin Mobile phones are not necessarily interchangeable between the Beyond Talk and payLo plans. Log into your account, Setting & Preference tab, Change Plan. From there you can see if a different plan is available for your phone. Note that you may not be able to go back to your old plan if it has expired under the Terms of Service.
