Virgin Mobile estimates that 1MB of data is equal to around 100 web pages, but sizes vary. So, about 3,000 web pages.

The $30/month plan includes 1,500 messages (text, email, IM, and picture).

Sorry, no. You need a payLo phone to use the $30/month payLo plan. Your payLo phone will then be incompatible with the $55/month Beyond Talk plan. You may end up buying a new phone and losing any money in your account.

Here's the story from the Terms of Service:
"Virgin Mobile[Beyond Talk] and payLo accounts are maintained separately. If you switch between a Virgin Mobile[Beyond Talk] service plan and a payLo service plan, your Virgin Mobile[Beyond Talk] or payLo account (as applicable) may be closed and you may be given a new Virgin Mobile[Beyond Talk] or payLo account (as applicable), and you may not transfer the balance between your Virgin Mobile[Beyond Talk] account and your payLo account. Some service plans are available only on certain phones."

Did you Sign In to your payLo account and change your plan? Or did you try adding $35 to your account expecting the plan to change? You need to do change your plan inside your account.

==> Change your Virgin Mobile plan

You can change plans as your needs change as long as your account is active. Make the switch by clicking here or from your phone by pressing the dollar sign or up arrow to access my account and choose Change Plan.

==> Change Pay As You Go plans

You will lose any unused minutes when you switch plans. So it's a good idea to use up all your minutes before you make the switch.

You can check how many minutes you have left by logging in to My Virgin Mobile. You can also check from your phone by pressing and holding the $ Key (or the up arrow). You can check your balance from your phone for free up to 5 times each day. After that, it costs $0.02 per check.

Virgin Mobile offers the 3 Beyond Talk and 3 payLo plans at this time. There are no family plans.

However, using the Virgin Mobile plans, you could set up your family with a phone and plan that is suitable for each member. Mom and Dad could have the $55 unlimited everything from the Beyond Talk plans and a smart phone or Android phone. The kids could each have a payLo phone with an 'allowance' for minutes or messages. $150/month for 2 $55/month Unlimited Minute Beyond Talk plans and 2 $20/month payLo Talk plans. How does that sound? You could even setup Auto Top-Up to automatically pay your plans every month. Prices exclude phones.

Don't forget that Virgin Mobile USA is part of Sprint Nextel. Sprint has family plans.

You must use a payLo phone with the payLo plans. Phones from other carriers or sources won't work.

30 mb of data is equal to around 3,000 web pages, but sizes vary.

30 mb is ok but it's also about content. The payLo phones will allow you to look at text pages. Use payLo phones to read the news, browse magazines, blog, check the weather and more. But you won't get some pictures, sounds, music, video, and online games. The payLo phones are good, basic phones but look at the Beyond Talk Android phones with a Beyond Talk plan if you want or need more web browsing capabilities.
