Wi-Fi is not available on the payLo phones.

The Beyond Talk phones are Wi-Fi enabled. Wi-Fi only lets you browse the internet on your Beyond Talk phone. Calls on your phone will use your minutes. Messaging(text, IM, email, picture messages) doesn't use Wi-Fi either.

You should use up the balance in your account. Virgin Mobile doesn't refund money.

For the $20/month payLo plan, does the $0.15 per text message come out of the $20 or minutes or is that an additional charge?

The $20/month plan provides 400 minutes of domestic calling every month. Text messages cost 15¢ each. Charges for text messages come out of your Virgin Mobile account. To see or add to the balance in your Virgin Mobile account on your phone select MY ACCOUNT on the menu. You can also click TOP-UP at the top of this web page. Use a Virgin Mobile Top-Up card(s), credit/debit card, or PayPal account to add money to your Virgin Mobile account before you send/receive text messages.

Sorry, all the Beyond Talk AND payLo plans are month-to-month. Near the end of your month you should get a Virgin Alert reminder that it's time to Top-Up. You may also get a phone call reminding you to pay for your next month. You can use a Virgin Mobile Top-Up card, credit/debit card, or a PayPal account to pay for your next month of service. Select MY ACCOUNT on your phone or click TOP-UP at the top of this web page to start the process.

If you are worried about missing your payment date you can pay up to one month in advance.

Lower Plans Available ($20 for 3 mo plan w/pay per minutes)?
I understand there is a $20 per 3 months plan, with a pay per minute plan, and certain minutes carry over and over and never expire, but accumulate instead.

I cannot find it on your website, and my friend swears by this Virgin Mobile plan, which he has had for a long, long time now.

If so, where can I obtain details, etc.?

EXPIRED BASIC RATE PLAN
► Virgin Mobile's offer for the Basic Rate plan, also known as Pay As You Go, expired as of Jun. 24, 2013. The Basic Rate plan is no longer available to new customers nor to current customers wishing to switch plans.

Current customers with the Basic Rate plan active in an account will be grandfathered and can keep the plan until the plan is discontinued as long as they don't change plans or let their accounts expire. If a current customer with an active Basic Rate plan changes to a monthly plan($20, $30, or $40 per month) the Basic Rate plan will no longer be available to them.

Buy a payLo phone. Then do a phone swap from your Beyond Talk phone to the payLo phone. You'll be prompted to change plans.

According to the Terms and Conditions:

• Virgin Mobile and payLo accounts are maintained separately. If you switch between a Virgin Mobile service plan and a payLo service plan, your Virgin Mobile or payLo account (as applicable) may be closed and you may be given a new Virgin Mobile or payLo account (as applicable).

• you may switch current service plans, including between Virgin Mobile and payLo. When you switch service plans, you will not receive a refund of any portion of any previously paid service charges and you will lose all of your remaining unused minutes, messages, and data allotment.

• Some service plans are available only on certain phones.

Swap your Virgin Mobile phone online

If you're a current Virgin Mobile customer and you've bought a new phone, you'll need to do a phone swap to switch your mobile number to the new device. There is no charge to complete this transaction online.

Simply click here to log into My Account [MANAGE MY ACCOUNT at the top of this web page] with your phone number and 6-digit PIN. Choose Swap Phones from the 'I Want To...' menu on the right of the Account Overview tab. Next, you will need to enter the ESN number from your new phone and follow the steps to complete the phone swap.

Customers who purchase a Blackberry phone must complete the phone swap with a Live Advisor at 1-888-322-1122, with no additional cost.

You can check your "Top-Up by" date on your phone by selecting MY ACCOUNT on the menu. You can also check your "Pay by" date by clicking on MANAGE MY ACCOUNT at the top of this web page. You can only see your account on your cell phone. You'll have to use a computer and use his account number(phone number) and account password to view account information.

You can Top-Up his account anytime by clicking TOP-UP at the top of this web page. Enter his cell phone number, your credit/debit card info and that's pretty much it.
