Questions & Answers for payLo Plans

Question
Best plan for heavy texting but low volumn of calls
I use a pay as you go plan. I am heavy on texting but hardly have any calls. Paying $0.15 per text now and it's adding up fast. Which plan would be best for me?

Also-need a phone where I will be able to access gmail.

What combination of phone/plan would be best for me? Looking for most cost effective options.

You should get yourself a Beyond Talk phone and the $35 per month Beyond Talk plan. You'll get unlimited text messages(as well as unlimited email, IM, and picture messages) and 300 minutes of talk time. You should also sell or give your Basic Rate plan and phone to a good friend. The Basic Rate plan is no longer offered by Virgin Mobile and you will lose it forever if you change plans.

Turn off your phone then turn it back on. Then try topping up again.

If that doesn't work then dial *86 on your Virgin Mobile phone or click 'SUPPORT' at the top of this page and ask Virgin Mobile's Customer Care. You can also click LIVE CHAT on the left side of this web page, when available.

All you should need is a payLo phone and plan. payLo plans are $20, $30, or $40 per month. You'll get unlimited minutes & messages and 50 mb of data on the $40 per month plan. If you run out of data before the end of your month, additional data is $1.50 per mb.

For more information click 'SUPPORT' at the top of this page and ask Virgin Mobile's Customer Care. You can dial *86 on your Virgin Mobile phone, too. You can also click LIVE CHAT on the left side of this web page, when available.

Sorry, all the Beyond Talk AND payLo plans are month-to-month. Near the end of your month you should get a Virgin Alert reminder that it's time to Top-Up. You can use a Virgin Mobile Top-Up card, credit/debit card, or a PayPal account to pay for your next month of service. Select MY ACCOUNT on your phone or click TOP-UP at the top of this web page to start the process.

If you are worried about missing your payment date you can pay up to one month in advance.

Or you can set Auto Top-Up to automatically pay every month from your credit/debit card or PayPal account.

Question
How do I get a "pay as you go" plan?
It looks like the cheapest plan is $20/month. That is not "pay as you go" but all the reviews and answers on Amazon say this is a "Pay as you go" and you only pay what you want. So, where are the "pay as you go" plans?

EXPIRED BASIC RATE PLAN
► Virgin Mobile's offer for the Basic Rate plan, also known as Pay As You Go, expired as of Jun. 24, 2013. The Basic Rate plan is no longer available to new customers nor to current customers wishing to switch plans.

Current customers with the Basic Rate plan active in an account will be grandfathered and can keep the plan until the plan is discontinued as long as they don't change plans or let their accounts expire. If a current customer with an active Basic Rate plan changes to a monthly plan($20, $30, or $40 per month) the Basic Rate plan will no longer be available to them.

Question
The $20 monthly plan - do the minutes expire?
I am unclear about this plan. I thought this was "pay as you go" but if I understood the CHAT I just had, which wasn't very clear, the $20 each month you have to "put in" does NOT roll over into the next month. So whether you use it or not, you are basically paying a minimum of $20 per month plus 15 cents for each TEXT. Can someone clarify this please?

$20 PAYLO PLAN
The $20/month plan provides 400 minutes of domestic calling every month. Text messages cost extra at 15¢ each. Charges for text messages come out of your Virgin Mobile account. To see or add to the balance in your Virgin Mobile account on your phone select MY ACCOUNT on the menu. You can also click TOP-UP at the top of this web page. Use a Virgin Mobile Top-Up card(s), credit/debit card, or PayPal account to add money to your Virgin Mobile account before you send/receive text messages.

VIRGIN MOBILE ACCOUNT
Select MY ACCOUNT on the menu on your phone to see or add to the balance in your Virgin Mobile account. You can also click MANAGE MY ACCOUNT at the top of this web page. Use a credit/debit card to add money to your account. Virgin Mobile Top-Up cards are another way to pay for your payLo, Beyond Talk, or Broadband2Go plan every month. Top-Up cards are available at retail stores and elsewhere online.

PAY AS YOU GO - GONE
There are no "pay as you go" plans any more. All Virgin Mobile plans are monthly, pre-paid. You pay for your Beyond Talk or payLo plan at the beginning of your month. You then get all the minutes, messaging, and web/data access on that plan during your month. Any leftover services expire at the end of the month.

EXPIRES
Unused minutes expire at the end of your month for all payLo and Beyond Talk plans. 'Unused monthly services, including, but not limited to, plan minutes, messages or data allotments, expire at the end of each month or when a customer switches service plans and do not carry forward.' Use them or lose them.
